Maybe you should consider using a 32-bit firefox-bin, for which it's possible
to use 32-bit sun-jdk, and also a Flash plugin (it may come in handy sometimes).

Although not officially supported, it works pretty well - assuming that you
have emul-linux-x86-* libraries installed on your amd64 box...
