My understanding is that Sun is finally looking for help from the open source |
9 |
community with how to open source Java in a way that works for everyone. |
10 |
|
11 |
On a related topic, I do not work for Sun but I am one of the community leaders |
12 |
for Sun's http://java.net open source development site. During the past year, |
13 |
we developed a Gentoo-based LiveCD which we are planning to call a "Java |
14 |
distribution" and as part of this we have been in contact with the people at |
15 |
Sun who are responsible for the new Linux license. I have also met with these |
16 |
people this week at JavaOne. |
17 |
|
18 |
Have developers from the gentoo-java group been selected yet to act as Gentoo's |
19 |
representatives to Sun for the new Linux distribution license? |
20 |
|
21 |
If not, I would be willing to help any representatives get connected with the |
22 |
people in Sun who are responsible with interfacing with the Linux distros. |
23 |
|
24 |
Thanks, |
