Greetings, |
5 |
|
6 |
When syncing from the master portage server |
7 |
(rsync://rsync1.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage), sometimes the |
8 |
metadata/timestamp.chk gets deleted. Here's an excerpt from our rsync logs: |
9 |
|
10 |
> gentoo-portage.log-20100113.gz:2010/01/12 04:03:10 [23321] gentoo-portage del. metadata/timestamp.chk 0 |
11 |
> gentoo-portage.log-20100114.gz:2010/01/14 01:33:10 [2988] gentoo-portage del. metadata/timestamp.chk 0 |
12 |
> gentoo-portage.log-20100115.gz:2010/01/14 10:03:09 [23615] gentoo-portage del. metadata/timestamp.chk 0 |
13 |
> gentoo-portage.log-20100118.gz:2010/01/17 14:03:09 [29970] gentoo-portage del. metadata/timestamp.chk 0 |
14 |
> gentoo-portage.log-20100122.gz:2010/01/21 20:03:09 [7617] gentoo-portage del. metadata/timestamp.chk 0 |
15 |
> gentoo-portage.log-20100122.gz:2010/01/22 02:33:11 [10630] gentoo-portage del. metadata/timestamp.chk 0 |

Since we're using the rsync flag "--delete" I'm guessing that this |
18 |
basically means that the file didn't exist on the master server at the |
19 |
time of syncing. |
20 |
|
21 |
Why is that? Should we start testing for the existence of this file |
22 |
before syncing? |
23 |
|
24 |
Thank you. |
25 |
|
26 |
Best regards, |
27 |
|
