Just to clarify the accountability. The Foundation is accountable to
its members. That reflects the business world where 'members' of a
corporation are 'share/stock holders' At the moment, members are
anyone who has ever voted in a Foundation election. Developers are
eligible to become Foundation members after being developers for a
year. Those who chose not to vote are not Foundation members and the
Foundation is not accountable to non members.

There are lots of problems with this. e.g after a few years, most of
the votes will be held by ex developers, drobbins is still a member, he
has a vote and can stand for election as a trustee. He was nominated
too.

We cannot change the bit about being accountable to members but we are
free to define the qualifications for membership.

The requirements for membership now are so restrictive that we will not
be able to find people to stand for election as trustees, simply
because the set of people interested in becoming Gentoo devepers and
those interested in becoming trustees has a very small intersection
[1].

There are two ways address that.
1. Not have our own Foundation - join one of the umbrella
organisations
2. Open up membership to Gentoo community participants who do not want
to become developers in sense of the word as its used today.

[1] if you doubt that, look at the fall off in trustees and the
interest in becoming trustees, even in the wake of the publicity at the
end of last year.
