Not disagreeing - it certainly makes sense to send less to a smaller show, more
to a larger show. But a part of *what* is sent should be based on the
anticipated audience of the show. A show geared towards companies would have a
different selling point than one geared towards users (LWE vs Ohio LinuxFest,
for example). All that said, though - what are the current costs for items vs.
how many can be produced vs. budget? I've actually never been to any of these
conferences, so I don't have first hand experience in what is the norm. I know
for the govie tech shows, the tables range from giving away something with their
name on them to full blown media - but without fail they all have glossies about
what makes them different/better. With that tainted experience in mind (because
I realize federal tech shows are probably a different beast all together, but
it's what I know first hand) I'd say we should have two types of handouts. One
for the (potential-)users, maybe a quick hack guide to gentoo (commands, key
files, etc.), and one for the more "professional" set that just bullets the
virtues of gentoo. If double sided printing isn't too expensive, they could be
the same glossie, but my thinking is that we can't afford to make a few thousand
Gentoo embossed pens (like my shiny red had pen), and we can't afford to just be
another score in some convention goers bag of "look at the junk i collected from
the booths".

am i off in lala land? i'm stopping now because i think i started to ramble.
