Hello Alec, |

|

Yes I understand these things take time, and there are some legal |
11 |
complications. Too often have I heard things from people like this. |

This statement was in reply to a user who thinks Dan should get the position |
19 |
back, and I believe (let him correct me if I'm wrong) that he's saying that |
20 |
because he's the user he doesn't have to live with the consequences of the |
21 |
decision, or do any work. |

It isn't a free ride being a user either. I've helped on the forums, I've |
24 |
tried to help, by reporting bugs, sometimes successfully, sometimes I've been |
25 |
wrong, etc... and sometimes the devs just don't want to fix the issue. I've |
26 |
also had to fix problems caused by borked ebuilds... everyone makes |
27 |
mistakes... but don't assume that users aren't impacted by a devs decision. |
28 |
|
29 |
ultimately I just don't want the devs saying let's vote to hell with the |
30 |
users. |
31 |
|
32 |
instead of "surveys" you could just set up a email address to receive votes. |
33 |
|
34 |
yes no in the subject line. and have all email addresses have to be |
35 |
pre-registered by a human... for added security you could require pgp |
36 |
signatures with keys that can be validated on a public mirror... |
37 |
|
38 |
otherwise just get a thread count after a week or so. 1 vote per email address |
39 |
or something, and ask people only to vote once. It's not perfect but neither |
40 |
is any other system. nor does it need to be. this isn't the president of |
41 |
<your country> after all. |

Due to low Internet availability I may not check |

my email more than once a week, and thus cannot |

guarantee a response time. |
