27 |
| Naturally I meant to include it when it was finished. |
28 |
| I am using 0.26... and it works very well. It is MUCH faster than |
29 |
emerge, the |
30 |
| config scheme is cleaner and better organized IMHO, and the ooutput it |
31 |
| provides in the console seems much cleaner to me. |
32 |
| It doesn't work out of the box because you have to configure it. The |
33 |
| configuration is relatively easy... especially if you use |
34 |
| portage2paludis.bash. |
35 |
| It hasn't broken anything for me and I've remerged world, gcc, system, |
36 |
| security, etc. However when I used portage to remerge world for 3 days my |
37 |
| machine kept crashing afterwards. |
38 |
| I however hope that *if* paludis manages to win more users over from |
39 |
portage |
40 |
| that it will be included as the default PM. |
41 |
| Cheers. |
42 |
Here's a consideration. It requires GCC4 which is not on all |
43 |
archs/versions such as embedded. Thats one such reason why it shouldn't |
44 |
become the default. As it has to work for everything we support.... |
