AFAIK -O3 might cause some broken binaries which in turn would have
some things not working.
I use:
-O2 -march=pentium4 -mcpu=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer
Not sure about the last two flags you indicated, I'm sure somebody
will be able to help out
