Ok, I noticed a problem with binutils: |
2 |
|
3 |
beta profiles # emerge -u world --pretend |
4 |
|
5 |
These are the packages that I would merge, in order. |
6 |
|
7 |
Calculating world dependencies - |
8 |
!!! Error: couldn't find match for sys-devel/binutils in update (likely |
9 |
old /var/db/pkg entry) |
10 |
|
11 |
---------------------- |
12 |
So, I did some looking, and I noticed in |
13 |
/usr/portage/profiles/default-ppc-1.0/packages, line 36: |
14 |
|
15 |
# arrrrggg someone in x86 land unmsked a non working on ppc binutils |
16 |
build |
17 |
# Gerk - June 12 2002 |
18 |
>=sys-devel/binutils-2.12.90.0.9 |
19 |
|
20 |
---------------------- |
21 |
But then at the top of package.mask: |
22 |
|
23 |
=sys-devel/binutils-2.12.90.0.9 |
24 |
|
25 |
---------------------- |
26 |
So, for kicks, I unmaked binutils, and I get: |
27 |
|
28 |
>>> emerge sys-devel/binutils-2.12.90.0.9 to / |
29 |
>>> md5 ;-) binutils-2.12.90.0.9.tar.bz2 |
30 |
* |
31 |
* Please do not use this release of binutils, as it |
32 |
* is very buggy (cannot even compile glibc)!!! |
33 |
* |
34 |
|
35 |
|
36 |
So, I'm wondering whats up with binutils. Portage is effectively saying |
37 |
that there are no appropriate versions of binutils to install for the |
38 |
ppc (2.12.90.0.9 is the most recent ebuild). |
