dear all, |
2 |
i'm FINALLY getting my 15" powerbook which i have been lusting over for |
3 |
months... as an avid redhat fan, having been dual booting with win xp, |
4 |
YDL is the obvious choice. |
5 |
|
6 |
however, i am really getting into gentoo - or the concept at least. i'd |
7 |
love to try it out. i am VERY curious to see how much faster it is (as |
8 |
compared to YDL) given optimised compilation etc. |
9 |
|
10 |
what i'd quite like to do is essentially run os x and 9 in mol under a |
11 |
linux distro. ydl i've used before so i'm familiar with it and that will |
12 |
be my base distro. however, i really want to use gentoo as an |
13 |
alternative. what i'd quite like to do is share the YDL swap partition |
14 |
and the /home partition with gentoo. |
15 |
|
16 |
it's not a case of 'can i do this?' but 'how do i do this?' |
17 |
|
18 |
the triple boot of ydl, os x and 9 is straightforward enough... i can |
19 |
see how that will work with no problems at all. the documentation is |
20 |
excellent and i have done it for friends already. |
21 |
|
22 |
has anyone tried the quadruple boot schema i have suggested? i think |
23 |
that i would probably install, in the following order: |
24 |
|
25 |
9 |
26 |
X |
27 |
YDL |
28 |
gentoo. |
29 |
|
30 |
any problems i might encounter with yaboot? or anything i haven't |
31 |
thought through? how would i share the YDL swap and /home with gentoo? |
32 |
if anyone can help me that would be great. |
33 |
|
34 |
look forward to hearing from you all. |
35 |
|
36 |
regards, |
37 |
|
38 |
andrew. |
