Chris,
I have an old wallstreet, and the also had a great deal of trouble
setting up the modem using the 2.4 kernel. I have YDL installed on the
main drive and have been using a 2.2 kernel with the modem linked to
ttyS2.
I noticed in the boot messages that the modem port come up as tty02,
but linking to that doesn't work.
In a fit of desperation I tried linking to the VERY old serial port
description cua2, and it works!
YMMV, but let me (us) know if it works. I thought the old descriptions
had long been removed, but it was the only way I could get it to work.
I would be curious to know why this is so. Anybody out there who can
enlighten us?
