I hit this one too. Strangely enough, a ./configure and a make; make
install works fine in the /var/tmp/portage directory. I did the make
and make install there, and then did an emerge inject
sys-libs/ncurses-5.2.20020511-r1. emerge system now continuing.
Maybe there's a bug somewhere in that ebuild?
