Alright heres the deal, I started an 'emerge -u world'
yesterday with the ~ppc keyword and it started
downloading. later i checked the 'emerge -up world'
and noticed that it wanted me to update portage so
killed the 'emerge -u world'. then i skiped right to
the portage updating and overnight it seemed to work.
i tried to start 'emerge -u *2.2.1* at
gnome-base/gnome/*.ebuild. and at first before the
portage update(and some other utils, gcc, perl, etc.)
it worked perfectly and is going through all of the
dependencies as we speak at my home. so im not sure
where it was the update of gcc, automake, autoconf,
perl, libperl..... blah blah, OR was it the portage
update? i did both at the same time (i know its
against the scientific method) but the combination
worked. so let us know if anyone else has had anything
similar. thanks again for your help...
