Folks, |
2 |
|
3 |
New to Gentoo. I'm trying to install it on my desktop beige G3/300, |
4 |
with an upgraded CPU to a G4/500. |
5 |
|
6 |
I'm using BootX from a small HFS partition. In the BootX Penguin panel |
7 |
I check all the boxes (No video drivers; Force SCSI on, etc.). I set |
8 |
the ramdisk to 11000 (not 8192, which seems to be the default). I |
9 |
choose vmlinux and the right image off the CD. I then enter the |
10 |
following boot arguments: |
11 |
|
12 |
initrd-size=11000 |
13 |
root=/dev/ram |
14 |
init=/linuxrc |
15 |
automatic=method:cdrom. |
16 |
|
17 |
Everything starts well, until I get to a list of items that begins: |
18 |
|
19 |
Mounting /proc ... [ok] |
20 |
Starting devsd ... [ok] |
21 |
Mounting tmpfs at /mnt/.init.d ... [ok] |
22 |
Caching service dependencies ... [ok] |
23 |
|
24 |
And that's where the process stalls. Or alternately, it stalls farther |
25 |
down the list at |
26 |
|
27 |
Calculating module dependencies ... |
28 |
|
29 |
Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? |
