Hi, |
2 |
|
3 |
I'm beginning to run out of space on my 2 GB root partition for gentoo. I've |
4 |
already learned about "/var/tmp/portage" and "/usr/portage/distfiles" and |
5 |
have cleaned them out. |
6 |
|
7 |
What I don't understand is that my gentoo installation seems to take up more |
8 |
disk space than the old precompiled SuSE PPC distribution I had on this |
9 |
machine before. My gentoo installation lacks "gnome" and has a lot less stuff |
10 |
installed, so I would expect it to be smaller, not larger. |
11 |
|
12 |
So I have a few questions: 1) Have I missed cleaning out any important |
13 |
directories? 2) Is there any special flags I must put in "/etc/make.conf" to |
14 |
avoid code bloat (I have a PPC 603ev). Right now I've noticed that all the |
15 |
CFLAG lines were commented out in that file, apparently I have been compiling |
16 |
with the defaults -- is this the problem? What's the best way to fix this |
17 |
(short of redoing the entire gentoo installation). |
18 |
|
19 |
Thanks, |
20 |
