[gentooppc-user] iBook install (newbie) -- emerge tips?

I'm installing gentoo on the 300 mhz iBook. Everything went will till the
emerge rsync step. I got the error message

Temporary failure in name resolution.
Error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver .c(97)

I had taken out the # sign in front of the SYNC variable in /etc/make.conf.

My connection appears to go through a local server, but it's a dedicated
high speed internet connection.

Finally, I'm using the stage 3 tarball.

Any ideas how to fix it so I can use emerge?
