1 KDM will read XDesktop environment from Xsession, Xauthority ... etc. if you really need to run kdm at start
2 you will need a bunch of files like ~/.xsession (yes with little x) copy of the original ../xdm/Xsession and
3 edit it to fill you needs for startup choosed window manager. SEE: twm sets and base the kdesession on it.

5 An easyer way is startx from console and you will need only to put 'exec $YOUSESSIONHERE' on to a file called
6 ~/.xinitrc and that's done.
