Well, if this might convince you to create a ppc-crypto-sources, I have
also successfully compiled freeswan 1.98b against the default ppc-sources
(2.4.19-r6). The only problem I had was when compiling the kernel using
the makefile provided by freeswan. 'make menugo' did compile something
(took quite some time) but it failed after a while, so I recompiled and
installed the kernel from within /usr/src/linux, and then compiled and
installed the freeswan programs separately (make confcheck programs
install), although this step was probably already done.

So my experience with freeswan is that it works perfectly on gentoo-ppc
(oldworld rom), but it needs a little work to make it compile without a
glitch.

I am looking forward to see a ppc-crypto-sources, and the freeswan tools
available as part of portage.
