Howdy.. :) |
8 |
|
9 |
Sven, if we convert any artwork which is ment to be printed to CMYK format |
10 |
we should be set to go, unless |
11 |
the resolution is real small for the size of print... i.e a 640x480 image on |
12 |
A4 is likely to be ok but not great.. |
13 |
|
14 |
So if anyone wishes to design posters or any visual media it really should |
15 |
be designed for a specific size |
16 |
below is the Euro paper size plus its physical size in millimeteres. If your |
17 |
from the US then erm.. erm..:) US |
18 |
Legal is A4 .... work from there?!?! :) :) (I have lived in the US for 8 |
19 |
years and still use the A system) :) |

Peeps wanting to design there own posters/visuals for printing, its real |
39 |
important to work in CMYK mode, Gimp and |
40 |
Photoshop support such modes, the default is RGB, I wouldnt advize working |
41 |
in RGB then converting to CMYK due |
42 |
to the shade differences which might screw up your design.. |
43 |
|
44 |
Visual branding is a horrible term divised by corperate idiots who wish to |
45 |
sound intelligent:) but what it means is that |
46 |
if you couldnt read, you would know that a poster/hand-out or any other |
47 |
visual communication is designed for Gentoo. |
48 |
At this point the G is the symbol of Gentoo, the visual-brand/logo.. but I |
49 |
am thinking of style also |
50 |
|
51 |
A Technical example would be CSS for web, but this "CSS" would be for |
52 |
Presentations/press releases/posters/hand-outs etc..etc.. |
53 |
If you look at the backgrounds I have done so far for the presentation |
54 |
template they intentionally follow a style, pastle shades and |
55 |
suble colour changes... I am trying to work on a CSS for it all, I am trying |
56 |
to devise a concept for the other visuals now. I think |
57 |
I may have a few ideas, I didnt really like the idea I had posted previous |
58 |
(LUG poster) it was a style mixture and I dont feel |
59 |
that is the way to go, let me play around with a few ideas before you shout |
60 |
at me:) |
61 |
|
62 |
Cheers |

Just wondering if such things as poster design and creation of other visual media is something open only to the PR team, of if there is room for, at a minimum, submissions from users/community members who are not devs? |
