I've been unable to reproduce this on a stable machine with only python-2.2.3-r5 installed. Can you send me a complete build log from stage2 to stage3? I've built python-2.3.3 using catalyst from the stage2 that I built that is on my webspace in my earlier mail. Further to that, I really think it is important we have Python 2.3 in release so that we don't make users go through the painful step of updating python when installing 2003.0.
