As you can probably guess, I'd definitely like to continue the DVD media |
2 |
for the 2007.0 release. |

This is the list from the livecd-stage1 spec file for the current DVD. |

What additional packages would we like to have on the LiveDVD? I have |
148 |
no problem adding things like compiz, but they will *only* be usable for |
149 |
people with cards supported entirely by open source drivers. |
150 |
|
151 |
These are the packages from livecd-stage2, which rely on kernel sources |
152 |
to compile. |

One thing to remember is that we *only* allow packages that are marked |
174 |
stable at the time of the snapshot to be included. This means that |
175 |
suggestions made now will be added to the list, but may be commented (as |
176 |
you see above) if they're not stable, or if they cause us too much |
177 |
trouble during our release cycle. I also don't plan on adding things |
178 |
that aren't usable directly from the CD. This means no ndiswrapper or |
179 |
anything like it, since it doesn't function without drivers that we |
180 |
cannot legally ship. If it doesn't work "out of the box" then we're not |
181 |
going to be adding it. |
182 |
|
183 |
I plan on adding stage3 tarballs to the DVD images, which increases |
184 |
their minimally. Also, for 2006.1, we gathered all of the distfiles for |
185 |
the entire release, including the LiveCD and LiveDVD images, to comply |
186 |
with the GPL. These distfiles were for *everything* on the CD/DVD |
187 |
images, not just the normal stuff from the Universal CDs. They amount |
188 |
to 2.1GB. Should we include these also? |
189 |
|
190 |
I'd also like to open up the floor for other suggestions. Now's your |
191 |
chance to be heard if you want any say in what we might do for 2007.0's |
192 |
release. |
193 |
|
194 |
Thanks, |
195 |
|
