Not "Gentoo" as you are not affiliated with Gentoo and it is not an |
10 |
official project. Feel free to call it anything from "Gustavo's |
11 |
Terminal Server LiveDVD" to "Funky Chicken". The point being that |
12 |
"Gentoo" shouldn't be used. |

The release standards means it must be created by a developer of Gentoo. |
20 |
It must follow all of the release guidelines[1]. It must also be |
21 |
something that we want to distribute. |
22 |
|
23 |
Here is the way I see it. This is *your* project. *You* need to come |
24 |
up with a *unique* name for it. It isn't an official Gentoo project, |
25 |
and for it to become one, you would really need to join Gentoo as a |
26 |
developer and join Release Engineering. |

You have to follow through with the normal process of becoming a |
38 |
developer. It also needs to be something that the Gentoo project is |
39 |
willing to host on our infrastructure. Asking our volunteer mirrors to |
40 |
host a 4GB DVD image that is essentially a special-use image isn't going |
41 |
to fly. The only place it could really be hosted in on our bittorrent |
42 |
tracker. |

I have no desire to add a terminal server image to our release |
50 |
materials. We are currently massively understaffed. Adding something |
51 |
as an official project means we have to support it. With our current |
52 |
staffing, we are looking to reduce the amount of release media to |
53 |
support, not increase it. |
54 |
|
55 |
While I appreciate your project, this is why I have suggested that you |
56 |
instead host this yourself under a naming of your choosing that isn't |
57 |
"Gentoo". There's nothing stopping you from building a project on |
58 |
Gentoo. In fact, we encourage it. That doesn't mean that we have to |
59 |
host it or even really acknowledge it. |

We are not accepting new release materials at this time. |
65 |
|
66 |
You are more than welcome to try making it an official project, which |
67 |
means you need to first find a current Gentoo developer to mentor you, |
68 |
so you can become a developer. You will then need to create the project |
69 |
and publish it on Gentoo infrastructure. As I said, we simply don't |
70 |
have the resources to host and support something so single-use at this |
71 |
time. |
