I'd like to put some documentation-related points in the public.

In a perfect world a draft release (with the final portage snapshot and GRP
packages and such) would be made, documentation could be tested and then
committed so that the final LiveCDs contain the correct documentation.

Sadly enough, the world most of us are in isn't completely perfect (dunno
about seemant's world though :).

First of all, resource-wise it's a bit difficult for me or many other GDP
members to download and test (network connection, time, boxes, ...).

Second, testing requires some time and ideally the time between a draft
release and the final one should be as short as possible. In order to be able
to have better documentation released on release (note that this didn't
happen on 1.4 and not on 2004.0 either :( ) the GDP needs a bit more
information about the LiveCDs that will be released:

- Listing of available boot kernels (on LiveCD); per architecture
- Listing of available boot options (on LiveCD); per architecture
- Output of "find" on
+- The LiveCD (mounted)
+- The LiveCD (booted - after being inside the gcloop or whatever)
`- The other LiveCD(s)

Sadly enough, this isn't sufficient. Such information should be available
*really* soon _if_ the layout of the CDs will differ from the current layout.
Which is going to happen with 2004.1 as GRP will be different. Again. Know
that GRP is what has always been broken documentation-wise on releases.

Third, the LiveCDs should be as "identical" as possible. I hope this will
be the case in 2004.1 (as catalyst creates almost identical LiveCDs, right?)
but in 2004.0 the second LiveCD (the one with GRP packages on it) differed a
bit architecture-wise (some have a subdir "packages/" in it, others don't).

Finally, is it possible to make all architectures release at the same time
_if_ the LiveCD structure (and therefor the installation instructions)
differ?

This is about it. Now to grab some food :)

Wkr,
