I wanted to pose this question to the rest of you, since it is something
I would really like to move on quickly.

As many of you may know, I have been working on getting GameCD's
produced for Gentoo. With the many changes in catalyst (John, you did
make a gentoo-gamecd type, right?) that have been going on, plus the
many changes to the LiveCD process in general, not to mention the
forming of the livecd herd, I've been pretty busy and haven't had much
time to get the GameCD's produced.

I am currently building a new beta GameCD for Unreal Tournament 2004
Demo and should be putting it online soon for testing. I am building
only an x86 version at this time, until I get the process and GameCD
scripts working properly. When I first started working on the project,
I had asked zhen and drobbins if the GameCD would be required to be
capable of installing Gentoo. Daniel came back saying that yes, all
GameCD's would be required to be usable as installation media. What I
would like is to be able to go against that decision. I see no problem
in releasing the ut2004-demo CD as installable, but forcing me to have
the CDs usable as installation media eats up a VERY large amount of
space on the CD and keeps me from being able to work with larger games.

Should the GameCD be official installation media, or should they be a
special purpose case?

Just to let everyone know, the GameCD's will *not* be hosted on the
mirrors, but rather will use Bittorrent for distribution.
