Kurt -
Perhaps we could name it LiveInstall? I am not sure if anyone else is
using that name, but it is an idea.

I think that LiveInstall and Catalyst have the possiblity to greatly
complement eachother and correctly solve many of the problems that GRP
was originally designed to address. I agree with many of your arguments,
and would like to go forward in exploring this, but I am still concerned
about networkless installs. The jigdo route is a route worth exploring.

Really, there is not that much effort that goes into GRP. Most of the
time taken is build time. The package lists are created by releng, a
static release version of Catalyst is always at hand, and there are
rarely ebuild problems.

LiveInstall is something that will be very costly initially. LiveCDs are
a **Pain** to get working correctly. LiveInstall will be much more
difficult to get working than GRP ever was, but I think it has the
potential, if done correctly, to be very beneficial. It will still need
the close coordination, package lists, catalyst fixes, etc, but it will
result in a nicer experience for our users.
