Subject: [gentoo-releng] Possible delay of x86-release

Due to strange problems with the 2.4.24-xfs kernel on the livecd, the
x86-release is possibly going to be delayed.

The 2.6.1-kernel boots up fine, but with the 2.4.24 kernel INIT
complains about "No inittab found". I tried different configurations for
that kernel (iggy's original one, a config from a knoppix-like
gentoo-live-cd (ask dertobi123) and different flavours of mine), stepped
back to baselayout-1.8.6.12-r4 and genkernel-3.0.1-beta10, also stepped
back from xfs-sources-2.4.24-r1 to -r0 and also cdfs instead of zisofs
-- I cannot get it back working.

At the moment, I am rebuilding the livecd on my box here, since I
already had the thought, that this may be related to amd64. This might
take some time (and I really doubt that this will be the solution to
that problem).

I will report the results of that final test as soon as they appear to
me. However I cannot guarantee that I am going to be able to keep the
23rd as release date.
