The blast-db package is actually a bit of a problem precisely because |

of the issue you ran into and I'll probably remove it soon. Instead, |

you should use the update_blastdb.pl script that comes with ncbi-tools |

(/usr/share/doc/ncbi-tools*/html/blast/update_blastdb.pl) to download |

the databases and keep them updated. |

So what I intend to do in a future ncbi-tools release is move this |

script into /usr/bin and write a tutorial on how to use it, linked |

from the ncbi-tools elog output. |
