5 I agree that git based trees should be have everything but distfile
6 manifesting removed. it would solve most every problem with moving to
7 a git based tree. however, we should still be checking to see if the
8 tree is consistent at emerge time. I propose using git itself to
9 validate ebuilds, patches, manifests and any other files (such as
10 configs, I don't think changelogs should be checked).

12 the above bug points out git tools which could be used to do this.
13 currently I don't understand the manifest code enough to implement it
14 myself.
