Subject: Welcome to Gentoo-SCM discussion, for figuring out Gentoo beyond CVS
Date: Mon, 8 Sep 2008 23:43:10 -0700
Ok, so enough folk were bugging me about SCM migrations, that I just
decided to follow what other projects had done, and create a list for
discussing the migration.

Donnie had a list of everybody that's been interested in the subject,
and I've subscribed all of you.

Most of this mail is a braindump, feel free to pick bits up and start
talking.

1.
Other large projects that have either had or are conducting the
discussions about switching SCMs
- FreeBSD
- KDE
- Ruby on Rails
- GHC (Haskell)
Know of any more?

2.
Tool to help Gentoo users move:
- easygit
- git-cvsserver (with RW patches)

3.
Migration tools:
- cvs2svn looks best as it's easy to customize into doing what we want
  it to (Python).

4.
Doing more test migrations, and having a test-plan for comparing them
directly, as well as against other SCMs.
