GMANE provides an alternative service for most mailing lists. c.f. bug 424647
For windows I've found WPKG to be a pretty good solution at work. For deploying applications, application updates, and OS updates. It doesn't require you to install anything on the server or the window clients.<br><br><a href="http://www.wpkg.org/">
