I have finally moved my way off tar, scp, rsync and whatnot and moved to |
2 |
bacula. My first impressions are "why did I wait so long" anyways a few |
3 |
question.. |
4 |
|
5 |
Will bacula safely backup imap directories (cyrus-imapd)? I always |
6 |
thought it was wise to stop the cyrus server for backups. |
7 |
|
8 |
I have this set up and matter of fact just did my first full backup of 4 |
9 |
machines. I did these from " / " down. My other partition is /boot and a |
10 |
few others depending on the machine. If my understanding of the way |
11 |
FileSets work bacula will not grab my /boot partition or others. Is this |
12 |
correct? |
13 |
|
14 |
If so "In theory" (as much as I hate to say that) if my root file system |
15 |
on one of my 'client' machines got rm -rf * except for /boot let say, a |
16 |
restore from the bacula-sd would solve this? Until I have a free machine |
17 |
just wondering, has anyone tried such a thing? I have read some of the |
18 |
disaster recovery how-to and will look into setting up a 'bare metal |
19 |
recovery but until then I am wondering how far users have taken it. The |
20 |
furthest test for me was moving my home dir and restoring it. |

thanks |
