I've seen exactly the same on a few <= 2.4.30 systems... New logins via |

ssh or directly on the console, won't work at all (both via pam). It |

seems that this behavior was related to the syslog-ng daemon, which |

hangs completely. |

As soon as the daemon gets restarted, everything comes back to work as |

before. |

Unfortunately I didn't had the time (yet) to discover what causes the |

syslog hanging :( |
