[gentoo-server] What to do about an INCOMPLETE MERGE

I recently installed Gentoo on my Dell Inspiron 4150 ... it's going very
smoothly now that I found that genkernel could save me from my own
ineptitude when it comes to the kernel build ... but during the process
I started an emerge e100 that never quite took.

Now every time I emerge anything, I get the message 

  INCOMPLETE MERGE: /var/db/pkg/net-misc/-MERGING-e100-2.3.33

It has been going on for several days so it's time to do something about
it.  Any suggestions?
