Just to clarify this as well: |
7 |
|
8 |
Firstly, the reason for virtual/qmail is because there are different |
9 |
qmail ebuilds including qmail, qmail-ldap and qmail-mysql. Imagine if |
10 |
another package had mail-mta/qmail as a dependency but you wanted to |
11 |
use qmail-ldap? Having a virtual solves this problem because the such |
12 |
an ebuild can just depend on virtual/qmail. |
13 |
|
14 |
Secondly, saying that virtual/qmail should directly provide |
15 |
virtual/mta doesn't make any sense. Installing virtual/qmail will |
16 |
actually install one of the following packages: |
17 |
|
18 |
* mail-mta/qmail |
19 |
* mail-mta/netqmail |
20 |
* mail-mta/mini-qmail |
21 |
* mail-mta/qmail-ldap |
22 |
* mail-mta/qmail-mysql |
23 |
|
24 |
All of these are real ebuilds and it is these that provide virtual/mta. |
25 |
|
