I am not sure if there is really a solution to this problem, but it might |
2 |
lead to some brainstorming and finally a solution :-) |
3 |
|
4 |
We have a one live server to which we have a mirror server, the mirror is |
5 |
an exact copy of the data and as part of our disaster recovery plan we |
6 |
should be able to take down the live server and use our mirror server when |
7 |
there is a need. |
8 |
|
9 |
Now part of the problem is the fact that I have to maintain packages on |
10 |
both machines separately. Thus if I say emerge php with custom use flags |
11 |
on the lvie server, I have to do the same on the backup server. Is there a |
12 |
way of automating this process? |
13 |
|
14 |
I am, not so concerned with kernel and device drivers, as the hardware can |
15 |
be different. I am more concerned about user level packages like |
16 |
Apache/PHP etc. Can I mirror the portage in anyway such that I can have |
17 |
the same user level packages via single emerge? |
18 |
|
19 |
Thanks for the help. |
