All, |
2 |
In case you have not noticed, X-modular (xorg-x11-7.1 and some |
3 |
corresponding virtuals: glu, glut, opengl, xft, and x11) are now all |
4 |
stable on sparc and in sync with each other. Please report problems as |
5 |
normal bugs and link them as blockers for Bug 111361 (this is a general |
6 |
tracker for X-modular on sparc, and the cross link just makes |
7 |
bookkeeping a bit easier). |
8 |
|
9 |
At this instant, xorg-x11-7.1 should be in sync with the release on |
10 |
x86 (i.e., as part of a general cleanup and effort to establish a |
11 |
baseline, we have resolved the known x86/sparc "imlate" discrepancies). |
12 |
|
13 |
If you are running xorg-x11-6.8.2-r8 and are suddenly confronted with |
14 |
a huge update to 7.1 but do not wish to convert blind, you should be |
15 |
able to mask the upgrade in your /etc/portage/package.mask file, thus: |
16 |
>=x11-base/xorg-x11-7.0 |
17 |
But do not depend on this forever, because the xorg-x11-6.8.2 group will |
18 |
disappear at some point (and if you happen to be using 6.9.0, long term |
19 |
that is probably not a good strategy either). |
20 |
|
21 |
Questions, comments, clarifications, etc. welcome as always. |
22 |
Regards, |
23 |
Ferris |
