futzed around, then remembered to fix package.mask (d'oh) and
got alsa-lib-1.0.7 to compile correctly as well.

emerge alsa-utils-1.0.7 for gds-267-r15 builds ... correctly 

rebooted into 267-r15...

hmm.. gds-267-r15 doesn't like my keyboard, but vanilla-266 does.
Same config file, so I'll have to figure out what the differences are
before I can go on.
