While I agree that they are a good demonstration of Gentoo technologies (in |
23 |
this case, catalyst), I don't know that a domain is necessary to show them |
24 |
off. Especially, in this case, domains that have pointed to a blank page for |
25 |
some time now. If there is an awesome livecd for a game, then we should |
26 |
showboat that somewhere under www.gentoo.org/ (I'm holding out for |
27 |
catalyst-mame that makes a cd with your roms) :) |
28 |
|
29 |
I just see some issues with this in the future: |
30 |
|
31 |
- having to pay for the domains (vs just using www.gentoo.org, or |
32 |
games.gentoo.org in this case) |
33 |
- other groups wanting their own domain to showboat their product. Pretty |
34 |
soon we could have gentoo-hardened.{com,net,org}, gentoo-embedded, etc. etc. |
35 |
gets to be sticky from an infra point of view, too. |
36 |
|
37 |
When the -games domains were purchased, their purpose was to make a seperate |
38 |
entity (corporate at the time). I don't see why we should seperate Gentoo |
39 |
products like that.. Give them a space in *.gentoo.org and if they need |
40 |
more exposure, highlight them on the main website. |

This could get sticky, we don't have much experience with money going out |
48 |
yet. :) If the register that gentoo.org uses takes paypal, we can do that |
49 |
easily. Could you look into that? |
