With the recent discussions on -dev about GLEP 19 and the proposed stable
portage tree, a suggestion was made to charge for this service. At first,
I wasn't too keen about it, but as I thought about it, I realized two
things:

1) We have no stable source of revenue at this point.
2) A stable portage tree would be a great way of establishing a stable
revenue stream.

I think we could charge a nominal amount for this service -- say
$5/month/machine or $50/month for unlimited machines -- and use that to
fund our other endeavors (trade show expenses, the $500 minimum deposit for
our bank account, etc.)

Folks would not be obligated to use this service -- they could continue to
track the mainline tree.

I'm pretty sure OSU would be willing to work with us to set up and manage
the billing services. We have the infrastructure to offer this as well.
Also, we're not in violatoin of our social contract in any way as we're
still offering the same information for free -- this way would just be
packaged differently.

Thoughts?
