Olha, eu também possuo um Pentium D, mas é o 945 (Aliás, felizardos somos nós, rapaz.. é uma ótima cpu). E segundo informaçõe sque colhi antes de instalar o meu sistema, a flag mais correta pra esse processador é [march=]nocona , ao invés de prescott.
Pode ser que ajude..

bom ai eu mando compilar o depois de um tempo da um erro falando que a arquitetura esta errada ..

eu para compilar o gentoo uso no make.conf como se fosse prescott e foi tudo normal ... 
mas para compilar esse blas-atlas nao esta dando certo ..
a arquitetura para  um pentium D 930 nao seria LINUX_P4ESSE3 ....??

espero que possam me ajudar agora ..he he
