Apenas consertei sua afirmação em que disse q splashutils nao funcionava com
vesafb-tng. 
 
Bootsplash é diferente de splashutils do Gentoo .

Como pode perceber, pela chamada do meu kernel, ele chama o meu tema "dneto"
e carrega a imagem antes do kernel atraves do initrd.
 
Confirmado que estou usando VESA-TNG + SPLASHUTILS ? ;)

Então não estás usando o splashutils e sim o bootsplash...
