Ist normal unter kernel 2.6, es gibt afaik gar keien "scanner"-Treiber
mehr im Kernel.
Das läuft jetzt alles im userspace mit libUSB.
Bei mir sieht es so aus (mein HP-Scanner wird als plustek erkannt):
bilbo sane.d # cat dll.conf
plustek
bilbo sane.d # cat plustek.conf
...
[usb]
device auto
...
ich denke mal, bei anderen SANE-Treibern geht das ähnlich.
Genutzt wird dann das Scanner-"device" unter /proc/bus/usb/...
