Subject: [gentoo-user-hu] Improving system performance, max-user-freq and so on .....

Hello gentoo-users(-hu),

I have questions about system tuning:

1.
There is a "file" called: /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq
This contains 64 as default.

What depends on this value in a working system? Response time?
Interrupt frequency?
Mplayer used to say: write it to 1024.

2.
How can I improve my system's response time?
I know the LL and pre-emptive patches, but is there other
recommendation?
For example setting max-user-freq, turn off swap, HDD tuning, use
more memory, don't change console (it takes more than 50 milliseconds)
and so on.

First, I don't want to use RTOS or RTLinux, but later maybe.

Thank you!
