9 FWIW, I switched to mpv after using mplayer2 for a while. See
10 https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/blob/master/DOCS/man/changes.rst for a
11 comparison between mpv and mplayer (and mplayer2). For example, on-screen text
12 (like subtitles, or the position when pressing "P") is rendered using libass,
13 which looks *so* much better than mplayer or mplayer2, or the addition of an
14 on-screen display (using the new support for Lua scripting), and lots more. Oh,
15 and both mplayer2 and mpv won't unpause when you change the window size.

17 Perhaps you will, like me, see no reason for using mplayer after having gone
18 through that document and/or trying out mpv ;) .

20 (Perusing through the aforementioned link, I see that mpv added a replacement
21 for mencoder, which mplayer2 lacks, IIRC. The referenced sections refer to man
22 page sections.)
