13 Ken: for those we usually just guess. I mean if you're about to
14 emerge foo then you run `emerge -pv foo` first, which shows which USE
15 flags are selected and which packages will be drawn in. If you see
16 more packages being installed than you might expect then edit your
17 USE flags in make.conf & `emerge -pv foo` again to see what the
18 effect is. But mostly, if you don't know what's what, you can leave
19 the USE flags empty & rely on the default ones.
