Ken: for those we usually just guess. I mean if you're about to |

emerge foo then you run `emerge -pv foo` first, which shows which USE |

flags are selected and which packages will be drawn in. If you see |

more packages being installed than you might expect then edit your |

USE flags in make.conf & `emerge -pv foo` again to see what the |

effect is. But mostly, if you don't know what's what, you can leave |

the USE flags empty & rely on the default ones. |
