Hello all, |
2 |
|
3 |
I update to the last stable kernel 5.15.11-gentoo with the same |
4 |
configuration as the old kernel and now, the boot time is quite long. |
5 |
|
6 |
Test : |
7 |
5.10.76-gentoo-r1 kernel : boot time 30s |
8 |
5.15.11-gentoo kernel : boot time 70s |
9 |
|
10 |
My setup (non EFI) : |
11 |
- SSD 250 Go : /dev/sdd1 ext2 for boot and /dev/sdd2 ext4 for / |
12 |
- SSD 250 Go /dev/sdc1 ext4 for home |
13 |
- Two 2T sata disks Seagate BarraCuda 3.5 /dev/sda1 ext4 for data and |
14 |
/dev/sdb1 ext4 for data backup (Not Raid) |
15 |
|
16 |
With the new kernel, the two Seagate disks seem to make the boot time quite |
17 |
longer. |
18 |
|
19 |
Test : |
20 |
booting without mounting the disks : 20s |
21 |
booting with mounting only one disk : 25s |
22 |
booting with both disks : more than 60s |
23 |
|
24 |
Testing the disks : |
25 |
- smartctl -s on -a /dev/sda and smartctl -s on -a /dev/sdb : No error |
26 |
reported. |
27 |
- fsck -a /dev/sda1 and fsck -a /dev/sdb1 : clean |
28 |
- e2fsck -cfpv /dev/sda1 : clean |
29 |
|
30 |
Nevertheless, dmesg shows a lot of errors (attached image) with the new |
31 |
kernel. |
32 |
Those errors do not appear with 5.10.76-gentoo-r1 kernel. |
33 |
|
34 |
I'm rather confused... |
35 |
Have you any idea ? |
36 |
|
37 |
Thanks a lot for your help. |
38 |
|
39 |
Regards, |
40 |
|
