Well, I think having this discussion, here on Gentoo-User is |
18 |
our best place to sort out what we want. So far the discussion |
19 |
on using labels makes it simple and straight forward. |
20 |
Disk labels and file system labels are related topics, imho. My |
21 |
thoughts are follow the KISS (keep it simple sonny) means that |
22 |
using a scheme that is easy (like the default one currently in |
23 |
the handbook) makes the most sense. Bright, skilled users, |
24 |
such as those that adorn this list (cough gag snarl), surely |
25 |
can use various schemes. |
26 |
|
27 |
I like the idea of linking to another document for a robust |
28 |
collection of alternatives and such, but keep the handbook |
29 |
simple and straightforward. So Disk Labels would look quite |
30 |
a lot like file system labels, but, that is just my |
31 |
opinion. |
32 |
|
33 |
Surely this discussion is warranted, before we all vote (Neil) |
34 |
for our the best/brightest? person to complete the Bug. If it |
35 |
comes from the list and a discussion occurred, like this one, |
36 |
it can be reference from the bug, and the doc-devs will |
37 |
have some confidence that much thought went into the suggestion. |
38 |
This approach will superceed my "half-baked" ideas..... |
39 |
|
40 |
Already we all agree that it is time to update the handbook. |
41 |
So I still seek guidance....... and then consensus..... |
42 |
and then we encourage one of our brighter members to |
43 |
complete the bug....... |
44 |
|
45 |
Surely Josh will like that? After all, he is still the |
46 |
flux_gate....... |
