Hi, |
2 |
|
3 |
I just put together a new computer composed of an Asus motherboard (AMD |
4 |
990FX chipset, "Sabertooth" model, i.e. this one: |
5 |
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/SABERTOOTH_990FX/). |
6 |
Initially, the onboard usb devices worked fine in AMD64 Gentoo 11.0 live |
7 |
cd (via usb stick), which I used to install my system. Now, all usb |
8 |
ports (ohci & ehci except the xhci - 3.0 ones) seems dead (and, as it |
9 |
seems, the onboard NIC Realtek 8111e). The usb stick that I used for the |
10 |
Gentoo live doesn't boot (I've tried it in another computer as well) but |
11 |
it seems fine to read & write to. The weird thing is that they seem to |
12 |
work fine (I've tried different ports) in the UEFI bios (this fancy new |
13 |
graphics based bios replacer where you can use the mouse to click on |
14 |
settings). Currently I've put my 3-button usb mouse in the xhci port, |
15 |
which works fine (although usb 3.0 are supposed to be strictly for |
16 |
storage devices) but I find it quite annoying not being able to use any |
17 |
of my "regular" usb ports. The error message I get when inserting a usb |
18 |
device into any ohci/ehci port is (example): |
19 |
usb 2-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2 |
20 |
usb 2-3: device descriptor read/64, error -32 |
21 |
|
22 |
All other hardware seems to work fine... |
23 |
|
24 |
I've googled but can't find anything that helps. This is my first 64-bit |
25 |
install (I've always used 32-bit before). Might there be a kernel option |
26 |
that I've missed (or that I've shouldn't have set)? I've tried |
27 |
gentoo-sources-2.6.37-r4, 2.6.38-r6 and 2.6.39-r3 (currently running |
28 |
2.6.37-r4) but they all exhibit the same problem. Attaching my kernel |
29 |
config for 2.6.37-r4. Of course this could also be a hardware problem |
30 |
(but it's weird that the ports works in the UEFI bios screen in such |
31 |
case)... Could it be the UEFI bios that somehow interferes with the |
32 |
linux kernel? |
33 |
|
34 |
I would be very grateful for any hints/things I could try! |
35 |
|
36 |
Best regards |
37 |
