releng does auto builds every week. However, due to a bug in the kernel the build box was running there have not been any x86 builds done since the one you mention. That is fixed now, and there should be a build this coming week which should include hardware speech if everything goes as planned. There is an issue which may not allow software speech right away [1]. The issue is that espeak is written in c++ and we need libstdc++ on the cd in order for it to run. That can't happen until all of the dependencies in the portage tree that use it are set up correctly. The README on the new cd will tell you how to bring up speech, but basically when you boot the cd there will be a beep when the boot prompt is up, then you will start speech by typing something like this at the boot prompt. gentoo speakup.synth=synthname This will also start espeakup if synthname is soft.
