Don't give up, you are about to get it;-) Otherwise I'll take the |
18 |
maschine:-) |

If it freeses on boot, it will freese with an initrd too. Initrd can't |
21 |
help much there. |
22 |
So what I would try is to recompile the kernel with processor type |
23 |
set as "generic alpha". I've seen a lot of reports that a specialised |
24 |
(2.6) kernel could not be booted. |
25 |
And please try with a kernel which is marked stable e.g. 2.6.12.5. |

In your other post you were confused about the LABEL's in the redhat's |
28 |
fstab. |
29 |
Redhat uses e2label to Label the partitions and mounts the partitions |
30 |
with the matching label and not with the devise name. So you can move |
31 |
around the partitions and it will always(?) mount the right partition on |
32 |
the right mount point. I always hated it;-) |
33 |
|
34 |
If you are willing to try further with your nice alpha, it would |
35 |
be helpful if you post your .config and the exactly messages which you |
36 |
are seeing. |
